Safety & trust

We verify first. You deliver second.

No rider touches a package before we've confirmed who they are. No delivery closes without a code the recipient holds. Here's exactly how it works.

Rider verification

Every rider goes through five steps before their account is activated. No exceptions, no shortcuts.

01

National ID check

Every rider submits a valid Zimbabwean national ID. We verify it's current and matches the name on their application.

02

Live selfie match

Riders submit a live selfie at application time. Our team manually compares it against the ID photo — no automated shortcut.

03

Vehicle registration

Registration papers and a clear photo of the licence plate are required. The plate shown in your app is the one that showed up at the door.

04

Proof of address

A recent utility bill or bank statement confirms the rider is who they say they are and where they say they're based.

05

Manual review

A member of our team reviews every application before approval. No one gets auto-approved. If something looks off, we ask for more.

Rider documents are stored encrypted with strict access controls. Only the verification team can access them, for verification purposes only. Retention and deletion periods are defined in our Privacy Policy.

The code system

A unique code is generated for each pickup and each drop-off. Here's why that matters and how it's designed so it can't be bypassed.

Server-generated, not guessable

Codes are created on our servers — not in the app, not on the rider's device. They're time-limited and single-use.

Delivered through a channel the rider can't see

Your pickup code arrives via push notification or SMS — never through in-app chat. A rider asking you for a code before arrival is a red flag.

Rate-limited entry

Wrong guesses lock the code entry after a few attempts. Brute-forcing a 4-digit code space isn't possible on our system.

Two separate codes per trip

Pickup and drop-off are separate events with separate codes. A completed delivery requires both — the record shows exactly when each was entered.

The one rule that protects you most

Never share your pickup code until the rider is in front of you and their name, photo, and licence plate match what's shown in the app. The code is your confirmation — not theirs.

Live tracking & trip sharing

From the moment a rider is matched, you can follow the trip on a live map. You can also generate a tracking link and share it with whoever's receiving the package — no app download required on their end.

What gets logged on every trip

  1. 1Request placed — timestamp recorded
  2. 2Rider matched — identity logged
  3. 3Rider en route to pickup
  4. 4Pickup code entered — confirmed
  5. 5Rider en route to drop-off
  6. 6Drop-off code entered — confirmed
  7. 7Delivery closed — receipt generated

This log is what we use to investigate any dispute. Keep your delivery ID until you're satisfied the delivery went as expected.

When something goes wrong

Problems are rare — but they happen. Here's what to do and what we do on our end.

Package damaged or missing
Contact support via WhatsApp with your delivery ID. We pull the full trip log — pickup code confirmation, drop-off code, timestamps — and investigate with that record. Do not discard your delivery ID.
Rider behaved inappropriately
Report it immediately through the in-app emergency contact or WhatsApp support. The rider's account is suspended pending review. Our verification records mean we know exactly who they are.
You feel unsafe mid-trip
The app has an in-app emergency button. Tapping it shares your live location and alerts your registered emergency contact immediately. You can also call or WhatsApp our support line directly.
Dispute over a fare or charge
The fare shown before you confirm is the fare you pay. If you were charged differently, message support with your delivery ID and we'll review it. If we got it wrong, we fix it.

Your data and the law

Dot Delivery operates under Zimbabwe's Cyber and Data Protection Act, 2021, with POTRAZ as the regulator. In practice, that means:

  • Location data is used only while a delivery is active — never stored beyond the trip.
  • Rider ID documents are encrypted at rest, access-controlled, and held only as long as legally required.
  • We do not sell, share, or monetise any personal data with third parties.
  • You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time via WhatsApp.
  • Any data breach is reported to POTRAZ within 24 hours of us becoming aware of it.
