Privacy Policy
Last updated 17 June 2026
This explains what personal information Dot Delivery collects, why, how long we keep it, and what control you have over it — whether you're a customer or a rider.
Who this covers
Dot Delivery (“we,” “us”) operates a platform that connects customers with independent riders to collect and deliver goods across Harare. This policy applies to anyone who uses our app or website, as a customer or as a rider.
What we collect
If you use Dot Delivery as a customer, we collect:
- Your name and phone number
- Pickup and drop-off addresses for each order
- Your order history and the pickup/drop-off codes generated for each delivery
- Messages you send to our support team
If you use Dot Delivery as a rider, we additionally collect:
- A copy of your national ID and proof of address, to verify who you are
- Your vehicle registration details and license plate
- A photo of you, to match against your ID and show customers who’s arriving
- Your live location while you have an active delivery
Why we collect it
We only use this information to run the service: matching you with a delivery or a rider, verifying rider identity before approving an account, generating and checking pickup/drop-off codes, calculating distance and fare, providing customer support, and meeting our obligations under Zimbabwean law.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with:
- The rider assigned to your delivery, limited to what they need to complete it — your name, phone number, and the pickup/drop-off addresses
- Our own team, for verification, support, and safety purposes
- Law enforcement or regulators, where we’re legally required to
How long we keep it
We don’t keep personal information indefinitely by default. Roughly:
- Rider verification documents are kept while your rider account is active, and for a limited period after it closes in case a delivery dispute is still open, then deleted.
- Customer order history is kept while your account is active. If your account is inactive for an extended period, we delete or anonymize it.
- The precise GPS trail of a completed delivery is kept only briefly, long enough to resolve a dispute about that trip, then deleted. The basic order record (addresses, time, fare) stays as part of your order history for as long as your account is active.
Whatever the default timeline, you can ask us to delete your information, or close your account entirely, at any point — see “Your rights” below. We’ll action that sooner than our default periods, unless we’re required to keep certain records by law (for example, financial records for tax purposes).
Your rights
You can at any time:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct anything that’s inaccurate
- Ask us to delete your information, or close your account entirely
- Lodge a complaint with the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ), Zimbabwe’s data protection authority, if you believe your rights under the Cyber and Data Protection Act have been violated
To exercise any of these, contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.
Security
We restrict access to ID documents and verification data to the people on our team who need it to do their job, and we use standard technical safeguards to protect data in transit and in storage.
Where your data is processed
Some of our infrastructure runs on cloud services outside Zimbabwe. Where that’s the case, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is still protected to a comparable standard.
Age requirement
Dot Delivery is intended for users aged 18 and over, since using the service involves entering into a paid agreement. If we become aware we’ve collected information from someone under 18, we’ll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make a meaningful change to how we handle your information, we’ll update this page and adjust the date at the top.
